in process whereby democracy restored in spain between 1975 , 1978, nationalist , regionalist parties pressed grant home rule territories in spain. constitution of 1978 opened legal way autonomous communities formed provinces common historical , cultural links. in recognition of valencian country nationality of spain, , in accordance second article of spanish constitution grants autonomy nationalities , regions compose spanish nation, valencia granted self-government , constituted autonomous community in 1982, promulgation of first statute of autonomy, basic organic law, later approved general courts of spain.


all autonomous communities organized politically within parliamentary system; is, executive branch of government. president dependent on direct support of legislative power, members elect him majority.


a new statute of autonomy promulgated in 2006. government of valencia represented generalitat valenciana (statutorily referred la generalitat) constituted 3 institutions:



the corts valencianes (valencian parliament), legislature, integrated minimum of ninety-two representatives (diputats) elected through universal suffrage proportional representation four-year period;
the president of generalitat valenciana elected courts s/he must obtain vote of confidence; current president ximo puig (from socialist party of valencian country). vice president mònica oltra (from coalition commitment, valencianist party).
the council of generalitat valenciana (valencian government), collegiate institution executive powers, integrated president him/herself , cabinet members appointed him/her.

the generalitat can integrated institutions valencian courts create. courts have approved creation of síndic de greuges (ombudsman), sindicatura de comptes (public audit office), consell valencià de cultura (valencian council of culture), acadèmia valenciana de la llengua (valencian academy of language), consell jurídic consultiu (juridic , consultative council) , comité econòmic social (social , economic committee).


the current government formed left coalition between socialist party of valencian country , coalition commitment, support of podemos.
