the season focuses on misadventures of gumball watterson, blue 12-year-old cat, along adopted brother, darwin, goldfish. together, cause mischief among family, wide array of students @ elmore junior high, attend middle school. in behind-the-scenes video documenting production of second season, creator ben bocquelet expanded on development of of characters, , how based on interactions childhood.

on june 2, 2014, cartoon network announced series had been renewed fourth , fifth season. both seasons combined consist of 40 half-hour episodes.


starting episode, copycats , gumball , darwin again received new voice actors due previous ones hitting puberty: jacob hopkins replaced nicolas cantu (as gumball) , terrell ransom, jr. replaced donielle hansley, jr. (as darwin), though episode ollie leaked online , on cable ondemand programs in december, complete end credits reveal episode made after hopkins , ransom replaced.
