in november 2007, stivers announced run election congress in ohio s 15th district, seat held retiring republican member deborah pryce. won republican nomination , ran against democratic nominee mary jo kilroy, libertarian mark noble , independent don elijah eckhart. stivers lost 2,311 votes, conceding on december 7, 2008, after long vote recount.
2010

stivers won republican primary 82% of vote. again faced democratic incumbent mary jo kilroy along constitution party nominee david ryon , libertarian nominee william j. kammerer. on november 2, 2010, kilroy conceded stivers.
2012
redistricting after 2010 census made 15th friendlier stivers. during first term, represented compact district covering of union , madison counties, of western half of columubus. new map, however, pushed 15th more rural , exurban territory south , west of capital.
stivers ran again in 2012 against democratic nominee pat lang. endorsed nra, national right life, ohio state medical association , united states chamber of commerce. stivers re-elected 76,397 votes.
2014
stivers ran in 2014 against democratic rival scott wharton. gaining more 66 percent of vote, reelected third term.
2016
stivers ran in 2016 against democrat scott wharton oh-15 seat. winning 66.2% (222,847) of vote wharton s 33.8% (113,960).
