trinitarianism denotes christians believe in concept of trinity. christian denominations , churches hold trinitarian beliefs. although words trinity , triune not appear in bible, theologians beginning in 3rd century developed term , concept facilitate comprehension of new testament teachings of god being father, son , holy spirit. since time, christian theologians have been careful emphasize trinity not imply there 3 gods (the antitrinitarian heresy of tritheism), nor each hypostasis of trinity one-third of infinite god (partialism), nor son , holy spirit beings created , subordinate father (arianism). rather, trinity defined 1 god in 3 persons.
