the cave located on hill obscured stone mandapa (pavilion) in front of it. cave chamber, faces west, 33 14 feet (10.1 m × 4.3 m) in width, , has height of 11.5 feet (3.5 m). entrance facade has 4 octagonal pillars , 2 octagonal shaped pilasters, latter abutting rock face on sides. temple small monolithic rock-cut temple mandapa carved rock face of pink granite formations, dating 7th century. cave of smaller dimension , has simple plan. fluted columns separating openings have cushion-shaped capitals , seated lions @ base. greco-roman architectural styles discerned , sitting statues said have likeness sitting styles seen in european architecture, against indian cross legged style. style created @ mahabalipuram became forerunner dravidian style of architecture. walls inside cave have several striking mythological scenes carved in relief. vishnu rescuing earth, vishnu taking 3 strides, gaja laksmi , durga impressive panels carved in adivaraha cave.
