the crimson tide extended overall record 3–0 after defeated louisiana–monroe warhawks 41–7 in first all-time meeting between programs. alabama opened scoring midway through first quarter when le ron mcclain caught 17-yard touchdown pass john parker wilson. crimson tide extended lead 10–0 after leigh tiffin connected on 34-yard field goal in second quarter. warhawks responded points of game after kinsmon lancaster cut alabama lead 10–7 two-yard touchdown run. tim castille scored on three-yard run give tide 17–7 halftime lead.


in third, tiffin connected on 25-yard field goal , john parker wilson threw 43-yard touchdown strike d. j. hall extend alabama lead 27–7 entering fourth quarter. in fourth, roy upchurch scored 2 touchdowns on separate one-yard runs make final score 41–7.
