after xinhai revolution overthrew qing dynasty in 1911, kawashima given adoption @ age of 8 father s friend, kawashima naniwa, japanese espionage agent , mercenary adventurer. raised , educated in kawashima family house in matsumoto, japan. stepfather changed name (kawashima) yoshiko . teenage girl, raped stepfather s father , later had affair stepfather himself.
