from start of leterme i government, problem of electoral district of brussels-halle-vilvoorde caused problems between coalition partners. constitutional court of belgium had judged in 2003 rules applying electoral district violated non-discrimination principle. when no solution found, open flemish liberals , democrats quit coalition. leterme offered resignation king albert ii of belgium on 22 april 2010. on 26 april 2010, after final round of consultations didier reynders failed, king accepted resignation. new elections held on 13 june 2010. of 26 april 2010 leterme ii government became caretaker government until succeeded di rupo government.
