the deutsches musikarchiv (dma, german music archive) central collection of printed , recorded music , music-bibliographic information centre germany. federal agency founded in 1970, tasked collecting music published in country. precursor deutsche musik-phonothek (1961–1969). dma moved leipzig in 2010, housed in extension of deutsche nationalbibliothek. construction work began in 2006 , completed in 2009.


formerly situated in berlin-lankwitz, dma constitutes department of german national library (deutsche nationalbibliothek). publishers of printed , recorded music in germany required law (since 1973) deliver 2 copies of every edition archive. 1 copy kept @ dma in leipzig, second deposited in frankfurt.
