202 series

these small 0-4-0 tank engines , standard shunter locomotives of system, built between 1927 , 1937 firm of breda in milan. have short side tanks, rear coal bunker, , unified, oval dome containing steam dome inside larger sand dome - arrangement, popular worldwide in nations favored sand dome, helped both insulate steam dome , keep sand dry warmth. large, prominent builder s plates adorn domes. use walschaerts valve gear piston valves , superheating.


440 series

one of these mallet locomotives, true mallet , compound, still exists in storage @ asmara railway station. 1915 product of ansaldo in genova.


442 series

these later, , larger, compound mallet locomotives built ansaldo in genova in 1938 largely replace earlier types, both 440 series , unsuccessful 441 series, simple locomotives (i.e., non-compound) , found liable run out of steam on heavy grades of line. other locomotives tank engines large side tanks , rear coal bunker, under cover of cab roof in design. these quite hefty machines, required tough demands of terrain.
