season summary
on 9 november 2010, declan ryan appointed new tipperary senior hurling manager on two-year term, succeeding liam sheedy. joined tommy dunne new team coach, michael gleeson of tipperary county champions thurles sarsfields completing new tipperary hurling management team. tipperarys first game of 2011 in january in 2011 waterford crystal cup against wit defeated scoreline of 2-17 1-19 in clonmel. first league game took place on 12 february against kilkenny, finished in 1-10 1-17 defeat @ semple stadium. first league win came in third round on 5 march against waterford 1-20 0-18 under floodlights @ semple stadium. tipperary finished in fourth place in division 1 , missed out on qualifying league final, won dublin. on 29 may, tipperary started championship season defeating cork 3-22 0-23 @ semple stadium. on 10 july, in munster final, tipperary defeated waterford 7-19 0-19 @ páirc uí chaoimh. tipperary got past dublin in semi-final meet kilkenny in 2011 all-ireland senior hurling championship final defeated 2-17 1-16. tipperary gaa sponsored skoda in 2011. in october 2011 benny dunne announced retirement inter-county hurling squad.
