history
as ctv-31

on october 31, 1993, radio mindanao network became second radio-based network launch tv station called ctv 31. first uhf station inspired format of cable movie channel.

but ctv-31 acquired , aired e! (the american-cable network channel in us) in mid-1997. because of broadcasting rules assigned national telecommunications commission , matter acquired broadcast rights e!, ctv-31 stopped broadcast on august 2000.

in mid-1997, acquired rights broadcast shows e! channel, u.s. cable tv channel, broadcast rmn s ctv-31. on september 2000, ctv-31 leased entire channel block , changed name e! philippines. broadcasting 24-hours day, in 2001 reduced broadcasts 6pm-12mn. however, on june 1, 2003, rmn had cease operations on tv due financial constraints , poor television ratings, , somehow decided focus on 2 radio networks (which 93.9 ifm , dzxl 558 am). there several religious groups had wished acquire block programming of ctv rmn refused accept offers. programs of e! broadcast qtv channel 11 via e! on q (now known gma news tv), etc (aired on sbn 21), solar news channel (now cnn philippines , aired on rpn 9), , velvet (now defunct).

since july 2011, e! has been available on major cable/satellite systems in philippines distributed universal networks international (a subsidiary of nbcuniversal).

after 8 years of inactivity in metro manila television, on july 3, 2011, uhf 31 returned operations test broadcast. station (along rmn-owned uhf stations nationwide) occupied broadcast enterprises , affiliated media, after latter bought acquisition bethlehem holdings, inc. (funded globe telecom s group retirement fund) rmn. under new ownership, beam began affiliation partnership solar entertainment corporation.

the network branded on july 13 beam channel 31. on august 15, 2011, started initial broadcast carrying game channel.

as chase

on december 24, 2011, game channel limited broadcast on daytime sharing new programming service called chase takes on evening block. in february 2012, both services aired promotion, announcing split of chase , tgc form separate channels, entitled chase goes 24 . changes took effect on february 15, 2012, when game channel bade goodbye viewers after 7-month run on free tv , became cable-only channel; while chase leased , took entire beam airtime on free tv.

as jack city

on september 7, 2012, jack tv plugged announcement thru chase programs bearing title jack tv rising, coming on channel (beam channel 31). indicated chase being replaced; finally, on october 20, 2012, jack city launched, marking october 19 end of chase s broadcasts. jack city still carry of chase s programs however. full broadcast initiated on november 11, 2012. on june 28, 2013, jack city forced reduce free tv broadcast 18 hours day on beam in compliance national telecommunications commission s guidelines. however, still continues air cable channel 24 hours day.

on july 16, 2014, day metro manila crippled typhoon glenda (rammasun) , station became inactive. later found out transmitter located in palos verdes in antipolo city, rizal received total damage of facilities done said typhoon. result, station shuts down temporarily maintenance, , continued telecast on cable networks. somehow resumed telecast on august 10, 2014 @ 9:00 pm, still under observation.

digital television broadcast

on september 1, 2014, jack city no longer aired , affiliated on beam channel 31 , provincial affiliates, beam prepares isdb-t digital television. however, jack city continues broadcast on pay tv networks until march 21, 2015, when channel rebranded ct day later on march 22, 2015.

at same day, began using blocktime programs o shopping (of abs-cbn corporation , cj group of korea) , several programs tbn asia (including 700 club asia , praise lord) along religious programming produced essential broadcasting network under leadership of bro. greg durante of greg durante ministries.

on november 15, 2014, channel carried on skycable, destiny cable , other pay tv subscribers (per compliance ntc s must-carry basis), displacing jack city different cable channel assignment, available subscribers residing in metro manila , neighboring provinces. makes beam available cable viewers 24 hours day once again when took effect 4 months later, on march 12, 2015.

on march 1, 2015, tv shop philippines (also known revival of value vision) began airing on channel in afternoon, followed selected tagalog-dubbed telenovelas carried telenovela channel on nighttime.

on march 9, 2015, channel added shop japan programming during morning hours, , added shop tv newest shopping network partner on february 22, 2016 (ironically shop tv owned beam s former blocktime partner solar entertainment).

by march 1, 2016, of beam s programs split digital television streams. o shopping, tbn, tv shop , shop japan relocated respective digital subchannel of own; while beam became affiliate of shop tv in analog signal, allowing cover of beam s airtime (tagalog-dubbed telenovelas remained on analog channel during primetime).

in may 2016, beam added live video streaming service of philippine daily inquirer , trans-radio broadcasting corporation s radyo inquirer 990 new subchannel affiliate, coinciding 2016 philippine elections. within same month, bacolod city-based travel , lifestyle cable channel island living (broadcasting programs through provincial cable operators including affiliates of skycable visayas , mindanao) became beam s new subchannel, followed replacement of tbn asia taiwan-based christian pay tv channel tv (which in fact aired former blocktime program light network-33 , standalone channel on destiny cable , cignal). tv ph, however, replaced infomercial service ezshop weeks later. channel space on digital television remains vacant since july 2016, gctv returned few months later.

the channel split of beam completed in august 2016 when telenovelas removed network s main/analog feed. since then, constant changes occur on digital subchannels time time.
