the congo serpent eagle superficially similar in plumage , size cassin s hawk-eagle, has overlapping range serpent eagle. has been suggested congo serpent eagle evolved mimic cassin s hawk-eagle, give serpent eagle several advantages, possibly including ability trick reptilian prey not fleeing, lowering own predation, and/or minimizing mobbing birds through resemblance predator of birds. d. s. spectabilis more closely resembles immature cassin s hawk-eagle, while d. s. batesi resembles adult. 1 of few suspected examples of avian mimicry.
