there 2 types of loads structure engineering must encounter in design. first type of load called dead loads consist of weights of various structural members , weights of objects permanently attached structure. example, columns, beams, girders, floor slab, roofing, walls, windows, plumbing, electrical fixtures, , other miscellaneous attachments. second type of load live loads vary in magnitude , location. there many different types of live loads building loads, highway bridge loads, railroad bridge loads, impact loads, wind loads, snow loads, earthquake loads, , other natural loads.
