mccullough born in dallas, texas in 1959. received b.s. in chemistry university of texas, dallas in 1982 , earned ph.d. in chemistry @ johns hopkins university in 1988. completed postdoctoral fellowship @ columbia university.

mccullough s research @ carnegie mellon university focused on self-assembly , synthesis of highly conductive organic polymers , oligimers, conjugated polymer sensors, nanoelectronic assembly , fabrication of molecular circuits , transistors, printable metals, new design methods , synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid nanomagnets , high-spin materials, crystal engineering , novel nanocrystalline semiconductor materials. in 1991, mccullough group reported first synthesis of regioregular head-to-tail coupled poly (3-alkylthiophenes).


commercial activities

mccullough holds ten u.s. patents , founder of 2 companies, plextronics inc, , liquid x printed metals.
