evans made debut in september 2000 against tiger redding. began wrestling in matrats promotion, set eric bischoff. in mid-2003, evans broke ankle, before competing stampede wrestling after recovering. wrestled major league wrestling (mlw) in 2003 , 2004. challenged mlw junior heavyweight championship, losing singles match champion sonjay dutt, , unsuccessfully participating in four-way match, involving dutt, puma , chasyn rance. during time in mlw, wrestled under mask dark fuego team pete wilson.

evans made ring of honor debut on november 1, 2003, @ main event spectacles, wrestled in scramble cage match teddy hart, won backseat boyz, , included special k, s.a.t., , carnage crew. match highly praised, , featuring evans performing 720° moonsault off top of cage, making him first person moonsault 2 full rotations. following match, evans involved in altercation samoa joe.

generation next (2004–2005)

on may 22, 2004, evans turned villainous character joining generation next faction alex shelley, austin aries, , roderick strong. generation next felt top athletes in roh, , going take top spots in company way could. rest of 2004, generation next feuded likes of second city saints , ricky steamboat, others in roh roster. @ final battle, aries confronted shelley after lost tag match strong cm punk , steve corino. aries told shelley step down leader of generation next, , attacked him before shelley answer. strong pulled aries off shelley, turned around , helped in beat down. evans not present event , did not return next several shows, leaving questioning if side shelley or aries , strong. returned @ part 1 of third anniversary show on february 19, 2005, teaming strong face ring crew express, carnage crew, , special k (izzy , deranged) in scramble cage match. on february 26, evans lost in match against alex shelley. following match, 3 members of generation next attacked shelley.

on december 12, 2004, blitzkrieg gave gimmick , mask evans. since then, evans competes on occasion blitzkrieg ii.

on march 5, generation next competed in trios tournament. won first 2 matches, defeating team of davey andrews, shane hagadorn, , anthony franco (students of ring of honor wrestling school) in first round, , team of second city saints (cm punk , colt cabana) , steve corino in second round. generation next lost in finals, however, against rottweilers (homicide, ricky reyes , rocky romero).

generation next spent of 2005 feuding alex shelley. shelley, due actions while leader of generation next, unable find many allies in roh locker room , left defend himself against generation next. eventually, prince nana offered him spot in embassy, refused, although changed mind. shelley joining embassy turned generation next faces , 2 factions continued wage war on each other rest of year. on august 12, generation next added matt sydal group, valet daizee haze. generation next had valet when jade chung, tired of way being abused prince nana, turned on embassy. on november 5, haze betrayed generation next , joined embassy. generation next/embassy feud ended on december 3, in steel cage elimination match, generation next emerging victorious.

in 2004, wrestling promoter , personality coach scott d amore brought fellow canadians form own incarnation of team canada in total nonstop action wrestling (tna) 2004 american , world x-cup tournaments. evans, despite being american, added team, composed of teddy hart team captain , both johnny devine , petey williams teammates. when world x-cup announced, team revamped add power speed , agility in previous incarnation of team, hart , evans being replaced eric young , bobby roode. team made finals, ultimate x match, lost team usa (jerry lynn, chris sabin, christopher daniels , elix skipper).

as part of working agreement between aaa , tna, evans made return tna on june 28, 2011 @ tapings of edition of july 7 of impact wrestling, defeating jesse sorensen , tony nese in three–way match advance four–way match tna contract @ destination x. @ pay-per-view, evans defeated in finals austin aries.

dragon gate (2006–2007)

that same month, evans , roderick strong toured japan dragon gate promotion. starting in april 2006, evans moved japan 3 months train , wrestle dragon gate promotion. in dragon gate, evans became member of cima s blood generation faction. 2006 brought changes evans , roh, austin aries , roderick strong tag team champions while evans , matt sydal began work more in japan. on march 30, generation next lost dragon gate stable blood generation. sydal , evans touring in japan, roderick strong , austin aries announced @ june 3 ring of honor show there no longer need generation next. evans teamed aries, strong, , sydal 1 last time on july 29 @ generation now, losing team of davey richards, jerelle clark, , irish airborne. following match, evans, aries, strong, , sydal laid down generation next shirts in middle of ring, officially ending generation next. evans stayed in japan rest of 2006, wrestling dragon gate. returned roh on january 26, 2007 in braintree, massachusetts, defeating eddie edwards.

the vulture squad (2007–2008)

after returning roh, evans began feuding roderick strong , no remorse corps faction. in order combat numbers of no remorse corps, evans enlisted ruckus, jigsaw , julius smokes form own faction known vulture squad. evans announced ruckus , smokes members on august 25, @ manhattan mayhem ii after competing against austin aries , strong in triple threat match, won aries, , jigsaw joined few weeks later. on december 20 @ final battle 2007, mercedes martinez joined vulture squad, , evans named booty vulture . vulture squad scheduled face briscoe brothers @ breakout in january 2008, evans suffered severe facial injury in dragon gate due kick human tornado prior event while ruckus missed show due pneumonia. instead replaced vulture squad member jigsaw , matt cross.

wrestling society x (2006)

in 2006, evans taped episodes on wrestling society x, aired on mtv in 2007. in company s first televised match on inaugural episode, evans defeated matt sydal. on following episode, defeated el hombre blanco enmascarado. in later episode defeated scorpio sky. notable feud human tornado. 2 tied in dance off , had 10-minute time limit draw on ninth episode of show.
