in 1998, strategic air , space museum moved 30 miles (48 km) southwest ashland, off interstate 80, midway between omaha , lincoln.


in 2005, offutt began several major renovations. on-base wherry housing area demolished replacement new housing. new fire house, aafes mini-mall, , u.s. post office completed in 2006. additionally, air force weather agency broke ground on new facility completed in 2008.
