Alliance of Yemeni Tribes Yemeni Revolution



a group of anti-government tribes, prominently hashid tribal federation, declared formation of alliance of yemeni tribes on 30 july. alliance headed sheikh sadiq al-ahmar, leader of hashid , former ally of president saleh, , aligned yemen army defectors under leadership of general ali mohsen al-ahmar. in first declaration, vowed solidarity protest movement , warned government attack on protesters or areas under control of yemeni opposition seen attacks on tribes.


on 13 march 2011, coordination council of sana university protestors presented list of 7 demands, starting removal of saleh , creation of temporary presidential council made of representatives drawn yemen’s 4 main political powers along 1 appointed national security , military establishment. many members of revolutionary coalition of youth peaceful change (12 organizations) , organization of liberal yemeni youth appear represented coordination council. on 17 march sent letter president barack obama, copying british pm david cameron , eu president john bruton, explaining group, positions , proposals.


on 8 april 2011, civil coalition of youth revolution (ccyr), yemen-based civil movement includes 52 alliances of revolutionary youth activists around yemen representing more 10,000 members, released statute draft including vision, revolution objectives, principles, duties, mechanisms , goals of interim phase .
