hunter attended louisiana state university 2012 2014, two-year starter @ defensive end tigers. played in 38 games 23 starts in 3 years, , started 23 straight games @ defensive end. opted forgo final season @ lsu , declared 2015 nfl draft in january 2015. finished college career 142 tackles, 21.0 tackles loss (79 yards), 4.5 sacks (27 yards), 8 pass breakups, 7 quarterback hurries, , 2 forced fumbles (including touchdown on 25-yard fumble return).


freshman season (2012)

as true freshman in 2012, hunter 17 years old. saw action in 12 games no starts, playing of time on special teams, including kickoff coverage. active in every game exception of south carolina game in october 13. had season-high 3 tackles in win on idaho in week 3. hunter ended first year 12 tackles, including 3 solo.


sophomore season (2013)

as sophomore in 2013, hunter played in 13 games, starting 10 of them after breaking starting lineup in week 4 against auburn. in game, first start, recorded career-best 8 tackles , quarterback hurry in 35-21 win on eventual national runner-up. had outstanding all-around game in win on florida 7 tackles, 1 tackle loss , 2 pass breakups. closed year 4 tackles, including sack 4-yard loss, in win on iowa in 2014 outback bowl. hunter finished season 57 tackles, 8.0 tackles loss, 3.0 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries , pair of pass breaksups.


junior season (2014)

hunter returned starter junior year in 2014. first time in career, played , started 13 games tigers, contributing key member of lsu defense led sec in total yards (316.8 y/g) , pass defense (164.2 y/g) , ranked no. 2 in league in scoring defense 17.5 points per game. in season opener game, helped tiger defense limit wisconsin 32 yards on 19 plays on final 27 minutes of contest lsu erased 17-point deficit beat badgers 28-24. against mississippi state, had 6 tackles, sack , scooped dak prescott fumble on first play of second half, racing 25 yards touchdown. after setting career-high in tackles 12 against auburn in week 4, became first lsu defensive lineman double-digit tackles in game since glenn dorsey had 11 tackles against ole miss on november 28, 2006. first lsu defender score on fumble return since tyrann mathieu did on 23-yard return in win on kentucky on october 1, 2011. in lsu s win on kentucky in week 8, had 1 of best all-around games 6 tackles, 2.0 tackles loss, quarterback hurry , 3 pass breakups. played key role in lsu s upset win on third-ranked ole miss 9 tackles, including 2 losses, in 10-7 win on rebels. closed out season 9 tackles, including 1 4-yard loss, against notre dame in music city bowl. season, hunter recorded 73 tackles, including 30 solo stops, 1.5 sacks, 6 pass breakups , pair of quarterback hurries. 13.0 tackles loss ranked 10th in sec.
