the club began 2008–09 season in football league championship fourth successive year, following highly creditable 10th-place finish previous year. however, season finished 21st in league table, 1 position , 5 points above relegation zone record of 13 wins, 12 draws, , 21 defeats 46 games. leading goalscorer paul gallagher 13 goals in competitions.
