in november, 2012, mccallum began creating body of portraits depicting defendants standing trial before international courts titled weights , measures, project began in partnership coalition international criminal court in unique capacity organization’s year-long artist-in-residence. project consists of oil paintings portraying individuals standing trial before international criminal court ad hoc international tribunals preceded it, such special court sierra leone, extraordinary chambers in courts of cambodia, international criminal tribunal rwanda, , international criminal tribunal former yugoslavia. according interview msnbc, paintings monumental formal portraits, referencing classical, 19th-century approach portraiture challenges viewers reconsider harmful influence these powerful men had on communities.
