the 3 states merged form baden-württemberg in 1952


the competition established in 1945 in württemberg part of württemberg-baden , in württemberg-hohenzollern. in 1952, these 2 states merged south baden form baden-württemberg 3 separate football associations, württemberg, baden , south baden, remained , regional cups.


initially, final held @ neutral ground 1967 onwards, 1 of 2 finalists received home advantage. occasionally, still held @ neutral venue when club home advantage didn t have suitable stadium. after 1981, competitions final returned neutral venue.


from 1974 onwards, winner of wfv cup qualified first round of german cup. @ times, wfv permitted send both, winner , finalist first round of german cup, (2008–09), winner württemberg not 1 of 3 largest federations, permitted send 2 clubs.


possibly remarkable wfv-cup winner in terms of german cup appearance sc geislingen in 1984–85. club drew hamburger sv first round , beat bundesliga club 2–0, defeated kickers offenbach 4–2 go out in third round 0–2 later winners bayer uerdingen.
