they favour old forests mix of conifers , deciduous trees. nocturnal, being active late in evening, although females young may feed during day. not hibernate, in winter may sleep continuously several days. shy , nocturnal animals, seldom seen. common sign of presence droppings, resemble orange-yellow rice grains , found beneath or on top of nest.
