like neighbouring granada transmitter, winter hill, wrekin serves large part of north , mid wales, despite being incorrect regional variation. reason because of obvious carriage of channel 5 @ same quality channels 1-4, , carried english channel 4 opposed welsh equivalent, s4c. since digital switchover, wrekin carries 6 multiplexes while local relays carry three. problem, welsh terrain disables many welsh viewers receiving dtt nearest welsh transmitter, moel-y-parc, relays of transmitter fill in gaps carry half channels.

unlike analogue television, wrekin had sub-transmission site, known wrekin b, designed serve east of region, fill areas in main transmitter didn t broadcast into. necessary due co-channel interference issues moel-y-parc, on channels 42, 45 , 49 (see external links). after digital switchover, frequencies serving east of region removed compromise frequencies has better reception in areas of region.
