chong kraben or chang kben (thai: โจงกระเบน thai pronunciation: [tɕoːŋ.kra.beːn]) lower-body, wrap-around cloth. thai word synonymous khmer sampot. sampot long, rectangular cloth worn around lower body. traditional dress similar dhoti of south asia. chong kraben resembles pants more skirts. rectangular piece of cloth measuring 3 meters long , 1 meter wide. worn wrapping around waist, stretching away body, twisting ends pulling twisted fabric between legs , tucking in of waist. in central thailand, chong kraben traditionally worn both men , women trend later spread neighboring cambodia.
