on january 11, 2013, part of nwsl player allocation, kaylyn kyle (can), teresa noyola (mex), megan rapinoe (usa), amy rodriguez (usa), jenny ruiz (mex), hope solo (usa), , emily zurrer (can) named seattle team. on january 18, reign selected christine nairn, mallory schaffer, kristen meier, , haley kopmeyer @ 2013 nwsl college draft. on february 4, 2013, announced team had signed 4 free agents: kate deines, jessica fishlock, tiffany cameron, , lindsay taylor. during february 7, 2013 nwsl supplemental draft, team selected nikki krzysik, lauren barnes, laura heyboer, liz bogus, michelle betos , kaley fountain.


preseason

leading preseason, learned reign without of u.s. national team allocated players half of season. national team forward, amy rodriguez, announced pregnant first child , not playing during inaugural season. u.s. national team goalkeeper, hope solo, away first part of season after recovering wrist surgery , megan rapinoe had signed french side, olympique lyonnais, january june , miss @ least 9 games.
