in 1971 became first australian footballer receive queen s honour when named member of order of british empire (mbe) in new year honours list. farmer’s name included in 150 bronze tablets set footpath along st georges terrace, perth commemorate notable figures in western australia s history, part of way 1979 celebrations. inducted sport australia hall of fame in 1985.


on 6 october 1997, wa transport minister eric charlton announced $400 m northern city bypass named graham farmer freeway. charlton said, “he has place in wa sporting folklore , fitting showpiece of city’s transport network should bear name… northern traffic bypass system links west perth , east perth are, coincidentally, 2 districts graham farmer represented distinction on football arena”.


he inducted inaugural australian football hall of fame in 1996 1 of twelve official “legends”, , west australian football hall of fame in 2004. has been nominated first ruckman in every team of century each of 2 leagues , 3 clubs participated, plus indigenous team of century, in captain. in 2008, farmer named @ number 5 in age s top football players of time. farmer depicted contesting boundary throw-in carlton ruckman john nicholls (the other ruckman in afl team of century) in jamie cooper s painting game made australia, commissioned afl in 2008 celebrate 150th anniversary of sport.


farmer depicted in rare 1963 scanlens football card series, due production problems during printing process, considered 1 of rarest , valuable trading cards in australia.
