this volcano has had many recorded eruptions during 19th , 20th centuries, , couple reports of volcanic activity in area during 18th century may have referred shishaldin well. therefore, volcano s entire recorded history spotted reports of activity. avo has 24 confirmed eruptions @ shishaldin, making volcano third confirmed eruptions (after akutan , pavlof). however, shishaldin has eruptions (this means confirmed , possible eruptions) in alaska, half of eruptions unconfirmed, recent 1 being in january 2015 (ongoing).


mount shishaldin s recent eruptions in 1995–96 , 1999. since 1999 eruption, has maintained seismic activity, typically having low-magnitude volcanic earthquakes (most below magnitude 1) every 1–2 minutes. during period of non-eruptive seismic activity, has been puffing steam, puffs occurring every 1–2 minutes. there reports in 2004 of small quantities of ash being emitted steam.


the alaska volcano observatory monitors volcano more hazardous activity seismometers , satellite images. visual observations rare, because of remote location of volcano.
