intraoperative

the intra-operative period begins when patient transferred operating room table , ends transfer of patient postanesthesia care unit (pacu). during period patient monitored, anesthetized, prepped, , draped, , operation performed. nursing activities during period focus on safety, infection prevention, , physiological response anesthesia. radiation therapy , blood salvage may performed during time.


postoperative

the postoperative period begins after transfer pacu (post anesthesia care unit) , terminates resolution of surgical sequelae. quite common last of period end outside of care of surgical team. uncommon provide extended care past discharge of patient pacu.
