the official conversion took place on 12 january 1942, when 549, 550, 552 , 553 s/l btys redesignated 372, 373, 374 , 375 laa btys respectively. after attending 17th laa practice camp @ ballykinlar camp, county down, new regiment, still under command of lt-col hoare, embarked fleetwood in lancashire. here deployed relieve 76th laa rgt @ sites across lancashire, rhq @ milnthorpe. regiment under command of 70th aa bde in 4th aa division, in may transferred 31st (north midland) aa bde of 10th aa division in yorkshire, 372 bty detached 65th aa bde covering humberside. on night of 29/30 may, assisted searchlights, troop of 372 bty @ grimsby engaged 13 enemy aircraft, , detachment of c trp @ site in hull engaged 1 aircraft.
in july 1942, 114th laa rgt provided cadre of experienced men form new 483rd laa bty @ 212th laa training rgt @ saighton camp, on 6 october whole of 374 laa bty left join new 142nd laa rgt being formed nearby @ lotherton hall. rest of 114th laa rgt s batteries handed on 142nd laa rgt , left battle training.
