ora began performing @ open mic sessions around london and, occasionally, in father s pub. in 2007, ora had first music release when appeared on craig david s track titled awkward , , again in 2008 on s love , featuring tinchy stryder. on both tracks not officially credited. featured on 2 songs of james morrison s album, songs you, truths me, backing vocalist.

in 2008, auditioned eurovision: country needs on bbc 1 british contestant eurovision song contest 2009 , qualified, later withdrew competition after few episodes did not feel ready , thought challenge wasn t her. manager, sarah stennett (who worked ellie goulding, jessie j , conor maynard), later told hitquarters ora had entered competition because @ time felt chance @ finding success. stennett reassured performing in eurovision hinder rather chances make solo artist.

the first uk single debut album, r.i.p. (featuring tinie tempah), released on 6 may 2012. produced chase & status, song debuted @ top of uk singles chart, becoming first solo uk number one. on 12 august 2012, how (party) released , reached number 1 in uk , ireland. ora s second uk number 1 solo artist, , third overall in 2012.

whilst supporting coldplay on mylo xyloto tour, later announced debut album titled ora. album released on 27 august 2012 in europe , australasia, , debuted @ top of uk albums chart. ora nominated best new artist, push artist , best uk/ireland act @ 2012 mtv europe music awards. in september 2012, announced ora opening act on uk concerts usher s euphoria tour set start in january 2013. eventually, tour postponed due usher s professional , personal commitments. 23 october through 30 october 2012, ora embarked on first headlining tour, ora tour, mini-concert tour.

shine ya light , released on 4 november 2012, became ora s fourth consecutive top ten single in uk, peaking @ number ten. on 28 november 2012, ora performed special guest @ concert held in tirana, albania 100th anniversary of independence of albania. ora embarked on first uk tour, radioactive tour , in january 2013, support debut album. nominated 3 awards @ 2013 brit awards, including brit award british breakthrough act.

2013–present: upcoming second studio album

in january 2013, ora revealed second album clearer , have more direction first one. on 26 february 2013, revealed digital spy second album shows different angle party girl. on 24 may 2013, ora headline act on in new music trust stage @ bbc radio 1 s big weekend. on 28 june 2013, ora performed on pyramid stage @ glastonbury.

on 18 may 2014, song never let down debuted @ number 1 on uk singles chart, making ora s fourth overall single reach apex of chart, , third solo artist. in july 2014, ora featured on iggy azalea s single titled black widow peaked @ number 4 in uk, , became ora s first top ten song on billboard hot 100 chart, peaking @ number three. on 14 december 2014, ora performed @ 2014 telecast of christmas in washington, filmed @ national building museum. on 22 february 2015, @ 87th academy awards, performed academy award-nominated song grateful , appears in film beyond lights. on 28 june 2015, ora released song poison , debuted @ number 3 on uk singles chart, becoming sixth top 5 single in country.

in december 2015, ora filed lawsuit against roc nation, seeking release label , citing contract signed in 2008 unenforceable , due california s seven-year rule. complaint stated s been permitted release 1 album despite creating multiple additional records release , relationship roc nation irrevocably damaged. complaint pointed out breach of contract, reporting roc nation breached recording agreement improperly taking twenty percent commission of income. in january 2016, roc nation filed counter-lawsuit against ora breaking recording contract, in new york. reached settlement in may 2016.

in june 2016, reported signed new record deal atlantic records. on 3 september 2016, performed in concert @ basilica of st. paul outside walls, in rome, @ vigil mother teresa s canonisation, alongside other albanian artists, accompanied kosovo philharmonic orchestra.

on 26 may 2017, ora released first solo single in 2 years, titled song , peaked @ number 7 in uk. track expected lead single ora s upcoming second studio album, after previous attempts @ second record lost in lawsuit against former label, roc nation. ora performed @ bbc radio 1 s big weekend on 28 may 2017. second single, anywhere , became eleventh top ten song in uk, peaking @ number two.
