on 16 june 1994, high-ranking uvf volunteer trevor king standing on corner of shankill road , spier s place talking fellow uvf members, david hamilton (43) , colin craig (31). 1 hundred yards away uvf headquarters, located in rooms above shop known eagle . car drove past them , did so, irish national liberation army (inla) gunmen inside vehicle opened fire on 3 men. car later found burning close divis tower. david lister , hugh jordan claimed gino gallagher, himself shot dead in 1996 during internal dispute, main gunman in attack. however, henry mcdonald , jack holland said gallagher inside car scouting area uvf members, , not 1 of gunmen. colin craig killed on spot. king , david hamilton lay in street, wounded panic , chaos erupted on shankill in wake of shooting. presbyterian minister, reverend roy magee in eagle discussing upcoming combined loyalist military command (clmc) meeting , possibility of loyalist ceasefire uvf brigade staff when attack took place. , others raced out of building after hearing gunfire. later described scene came upon outside.

king rushed hospital put on life-support machine. shooting had left him paralysed neck down. died on 9 july reverend magee @ bedside. according magee, king himself made decision turn off machine.


the killings blow northern ireland peace process , morale boost inla. attack inla s notorious since droppin bombing in 1982 killed seventeen people, 11 british soldiers , 6 civilians.
