on march 1, 2008, minoru suzuki made appearance @ dory funk, jr. retirement show, providing commentary triple crown championship main event (between kensuke sasaki , satoshi kojima), pledging participate in upcoming champion carnival. april 5 9, suzuki competed in block b of japan s annual champion carnival, finishing league 2 wins (over kensuke sasaki , suwama) , 2 losses (to osamu nishimura , joe doering), teaming takemura defeat toshiaki kawada , nobutaka araya on day 2 (april 6) of carnival. during hold out tour, suzuki confronted losing-streak taiyō kea joining stable gurentai (alongside nosawa, mazada , takemura), resulted in kea joining , focusing on winning tag titles suzuki. on june 28, 2008, suzuki , kea won world tag team championship joe doering , keiji mutoh. on september 28, 2008 attacked great muta after muta had defeated suwama triple crown championship, setting match between 2 in lost on november 3, 2008.


on january 3, 2009, suzuki , stablemate nosawa rongai won restored asia tag team championship, on course of 2-day tournament. later in year, suzuki won 2009 champion carnival beating kaz hayashi in finals. end challenging triple crown heavyweight champion, yoshihiro takayama, on may 30, 2009, albeit in losing effort. on september 23, 2009, suzuki , nosawa lost asia tag team championship @ hands of akebono , ryota hama. on january 3, 2010, suzuki , kea lost world tag team championship @ hands of masakatsu funaki , keiji mutoh.


on march 21, 2010, suzuki lost long-time rival masakatsu funaki in japan s first cage match. suzuki entered champion carnival , won second straight year, being third man beating funaki in final - weeks removed cage match. after final, suzuki buried hatchet funaki shaking hand, ending decade-long rivalry. suzuki declared gurentai stable on hiatus. result of champion carnival victory, suzuki earned triple crown heavyweight championship match versus ryota hama on may 2. in match, suzuki defeated hama claim second triple crown championship. go on lose title suwama on august 29, 2010.
