in women s artistic junior olympic program, televised level 10 event called nastia liukin cup takes place every march; , has done since 2010. event named after 2008 olympian, nastia liukin , held in conjunction at&t american cup; taking place friday night before. earn qualification berth nastia liukin cup, gymnasts compete in selected invitationals during season , top gymnasts in junior , senior divisions compete @ cup. since 2014, there has been separate competition both age divisions. in past, various u.s. national team members have come competition; including 2012 olympic champion, gabby douglas, came 4th in inaugural 2010 competition.


j.o. nationals important event in junior olympic women s artistic calendar , final event of season. @ nationals, there 8 age divisions; ranging junior a-d , senior a-d , gymnasts allotted these categories depending on birth date. qualify nationals, gymnast must place in top 7 in all-around @ regionals in age division. additionally, gymnasts placed 8th , 9th reserves compete in j.o. national invitational tournament; competition held @ nationals isn t big nationals. competition still gives gymnasts experience , often, gymnasts didn t have performance @ regionals can find redemption competing @ event.
