as rebranded , modified ford 5 hundred, 5g taurus featured engine 30% more power; front facelift; chrome-trimmed, fender-located faux engine vents; revised tail lights; , increased sound absorption measures, including foam pellets expanded a-pillars , new sound-absorptive material, marketed sonosorb, used throughout body. 5g taurus used new 6-speed automatic transmission (the gm-ford 6-speed automatic transmission, jointly developed general motors), in contrast aisin 6-speed used in 5 hundred, , no longer equipped cvt. handling revised re-engineering front end – transferring weight of engine sub-frame directly chassis via hydraulic mounts – increasing front suspension travel 10mm (10%) , retuning suspension.
