the sixth-generation ford taurus based on volvo-derived ford d3 platform architecture, sharing 112.9-inch wheelbase of lincoln mks , previous ford taurus (five hundred). predecessor, ford taurus features front-wheel drive powertrain standard option of all-wheel drive configuration (standard on sho).


as other d3 sedans, ford taurus configured four-wheel independent suspension, featuring macpherson struts , rearward-facing lower l-arms stabilizer bar in front , multilink coilover shock setup stamped steel lower control arms , cast upper control arms in rear. previous-generation taurus (five hundred) , ford crown victoria, sixth-generation taurus features four-wheel antilock disc brakes. on models, advancetrac combines traction control , stability control. torque vectoring control , curve control option all-wheel drive models.

in 2013, ford taurus saw mid-cycle refresh, adopting features of global kinetic design language featured on redesigns of ford focus, ford fiesta, , ford kuga. while roofline , side panels stayed same, taurus given new front fascia trapezoidal upper grille (emphasized on sho , police interceptor) , restyled headlamps. in rear, led taillamps made return (for first time since 2007 mercury montego) along dual exhaust (true dual exhaust on sho/ecoboost v6; split exhaust outlets on other versions). while interior saw fewer changes in terms of styling, number of changes made content. 2013, ford added heated steering wheel, interactive instrument cluster, , myford touch system (which includes new head unit 8-inch touch screen). other features new 2013 taurus include new sony sound system featuring hd radio , itunes tagging, multicontour seats active motion (massage), push-button start, auto high beams, , rear view camera. 2013, taurus replaced crown victoria/grand marquis full-size ford offering in middle east, becoming offered in region first time.


for 2014, new wheel designs introduced, minor changes standard , optional equipment. lane keeping assist feature added driver assist package.
