the university adopted new on-field mascot athletic events in fall of 2010. colonel reb, retired sidelines of sporting events in 2003, officially replaced rebel , black bear. university sports teams still officially referred rebels.


the university s 25th rhodes scholar named in 2008, and, on past 10 years, university has produced 7 truman, 10 goldwater , 10 fulbright scholars, 1 marshall, 2 udalls , 1 gates cambridge scholar.
