las plumas high has maintained mock trial team since 1993, , has competed @ state level 14 years. 2 students have been recognized constitution rights foundation outstanding achievement awards @ state level - benjamin rodgers outstanding pretrial in 2005, , gary ferdinand outstanding prosecution witness in 2010.


the school s journalism class maintains school newspaper, las plumas times, distributed school, several businesses around oroville , marysville, including marysville charter academy arts.


the las plumas/oroville alliance marching band biggest source of prestige oroville unified high school district, having consistently placed among top ten bands in california while under direction of director jeff stratton. in fall of 2008, lpo band won 9 sweepstakes awards, breaking record school. in same school year, band room s renovation completed, allowing room hundreds of trophies , plaques accumulated on years. of lpo s biggest consistent rivals include fairfield high school, armijo, golden valley, , franklin. in fall of 2009, las plumas/oroville alliance marching band named third-best in state california band directors association. normally, band judged members of northern california band association.


in 1988 las plumas high school marching band , auxiliary represented united states of america @ world s fair in brisbane, australia under direction of glenn , carolyn dawson. band , auxiliary toured ten days on eastern coast of australia presenting student leadership , marching techniques before performing @ world s fair.


in 1990 las plumas high school , auxiliary toured island of o ahu performing @ several schools demonstrating student leadership, marching , music techniques under direction of glenn , carolyn dawson. within 2 years glenn combined oroville high school music program las plumas high school music program promote music education included students in greater oroville area.
