in 1995 briois became member of municipal council in hénin-beaumont, , in 1998 member of regional council of nord-pas-de-calais. when bruno mégret broke front national in 1998, briois followed him, returned fn in 2000.


in 2008 french municipal elections, briois ran mayor in hénin-beaumont on list had marine le pen in second spot. receiving 28.83% of votes, bid failed in first round, list getting 5 of 35 seats in municipal council.


the elected mayor, gérard dalongeville, resigned post in 2009 following allegations of economic irregularities, resulting in by-election. list of briois obtained 39.34% of votes in first round of election, lost in second round 47.62% of votes miscellaneous left list obtained 52.38%.


briois elected member of central committee of national front in 2007. after marine le pen became president of party in 2011, briois named general secretary of party.


in 2014 french municipal elections, briois elected mayor or hénin-beaumont in first round in march 50.26% of votes. elected member of european parliament north-west france in european parliament elections in may same year. briois placed second on list led marine le pen, obtained 5 seats.


at front national congress in lyon in november 2014, briois elected 1 of vice-presidents of party, responsible local executives , supervision, , succeeded nicolas bay general-secretary.
