a fine example of restored architecture formerly overgrown plant life frenswegen monastery 14th century in town s northwest. lightning strike in 1881 destroyed church consecrated in 1445. monastery buildings, however, preserved, square, two-floored cloister, little wellhouse, bridge on moat , impressive cellar vaulting. on east wing s outer façade, madonna , child made of bentheim sandstone attracts beholder s attention. after cautious renovations, building houses ecumenical educational , meeting place origin , basis unusually broad mix of faiths in nordhorn , environs is.

a fine legacy gründerzeit town park (stadtpark), villa park of 1 of earliest manufacturers. @ concert bowl in town park, concerts regularly take place.
