in 1919, naguib mahfouz granted order of nile. in 1935, elected honorary fellow of royal college of obstetricians , gynaecologists of england, honour bestowed on 5 eminent doctors @ 1 time. in 1937, became fellow of each of royal college of physicians of england , of academy of medicine of new york. during same year, granted title of pasha, highest honour bestowed on civilian in egypt. in 1943, royal college of surgeons of england elected sir winston churchill, chiang kai-shek , professor naguib mahfouz honorary fellows of college, highest honour royal college can bestow. mahfouz not make london because of lack of transport during world war ii, royal college of surgeons council unusually enough conferred degree on naguib mahfouz in cairo. on 1 july 1947, royal society of medicine of england bestowed honorary fellowship upon professor naguib mahfouz sir alexander fleming, discoverer of penicillin, , atomic scientist. during same year, mahfouz granted honorary fellowship of royal society of gynaecology , obstetrics of edinburgh. naguib mahfouz granted medal of education king farouk s prize medical sciences in 1951. in 1956, royal college of obstetricians , gynaecologists invited mahfouz deliver fletcher shaw memorial lecture, honour conferred on fellows of college research have contributed noticeable progress in obstetrics , gynaecology . many applications attend came in, venue of lecture had moved college s lecture hall royal society of medicine in london. in 1960, president gamal abdel nasser granted mahfouz first class order of merit , state prize of distinction science. president anwar sadat subsequently granted him highest accolade post-humously.
