the traffic on stadtbahn steadily increased , narrow central platform on suburban tracks @ jannowitzbrücke had widened. obtain sufficient space, tracks of long-distance line shifted towards south in 1906/1907, rested on supporting structure built directly in river. structure modified in 1997 increase stability.

subsequently, there thorough renovation of stadtbahn. s-bahn trains diverted run on disused long-distance tracks outside train shed, not stop @ station. made possible rehabilitate s-bahn station between 15 november 1994 , 21 october 1996. since station has included lift, several escalators , shops.
