pushpa basnet has been awarded cnn hero award 2012, held @ shrine auditorium in los angeles, california, on sunday, 2 december. academy award winning actress susan sarandon presented basnet award. show aired live through cnn.

s not fair (these) children live in prison because haven t done wrong...my mission make sure no child grows behind prison walls.



cnn heroes culminated in global telecast honoring top 10 cnn heroes of 2012 on 20 september. basnet selected in final list through unanimous jury decision, winning $50,000 grant amount effort , contributions towards welfare of children behind bars.


each of top 10 cnn heroes received $50,000 in recognition of work, , basnet’s nonprofit, childhood development center, has been awarded additional $250,000 grant continue work.
