over years, narrabri has had number of weather stations run bureau of meteorology or other government agencies. narrabri west post office made rainfall observations late 1800s. june 1960 until august 2002, observed , reported other weather elements such temperature , wind speed. since reports rainfall. current weather station narrabri narrabri airport automatic weather station (aws), began observations in 2001.


significant weather events

on 4 january 1902 severe thunderstorm, large hail , destructive winds, struck town, many buildings either damaged or destroyed. storm, lasted 5 minutes, described cyclone . 1 man died after being struck lightning , 2 people injured storm. damage caused storm estimated around £3,000.
